I would be happy with +-1000rpm on startup - think that is about what it was. Car is warm at the moment, just started it and it went to: Neutral : +-1500. as it engages : +-1800. WebDec 7, 2024 · On the second start, it will rev up again, but not nearly as high, whereupon it may die or continue to run. If it does die, the third startup typically doesn't cause a rev up. Once running, the motor has a stumble / cough / miss every 3-4 seconds. Once off idle, that cough seems to go away.
WebJan 18, 2024 · The reason for the high RPM on startup is likely excessive air, either from a throttle body or other intake leak, sticky TB or IAC, or the PCM thinking that the intake air and/or coolant temperatures are ridiculously low, thus adding steps to the IAC position. Perhaps your car is overdoing it a little, but it usually is normal. especially if it drops back down after a little while (30 second usually. In really cold weather it might take a few minutes to drop to normal idle rpm.

Turn engine off for gas, whatever, the problem starts again. Checked the crank case sensor, it was covered with oil. Not being a mechanic, not sure if this is normel or not.
WebOct 20, 2010 · 4.7 HO still revs too high on start up. Even put on another new idle motor. That did not help. Seems to work okay for 3 or 4 days after having the PCM flashed but then reverts back to reving high (2200 rpm) on startup. Has anyone else had this problem and what was the fix.

Sometimes it's slightly rough. Once the motor is warm it idles normally. I'm thinking this is sensor related. MAF or O2 but I'm unsure, whatchu guys think?
